Stone Mountain Golf Club Lakemont is the more scenic and popular of the two 18-hole golf courses in Stone Mountain Park. The park, which is situated 30 minutes from downtown Atlanta, is a scenic and tranquil realm for golf. Stone Mountain Golf Club Lakemont, which was designed by Georgia native John Lafoy in 1989, showcases Stone Mountain Lake and Stone Mountain, the massive granite monolith that is Georgia's greatest natural landmark. Whereas sister course Stone Mountain Golf Club Stonemont is a long, tough and tight Robert Trent Jones, Sr.-designed course suited for those who seek a challenging game, the shorter Stone Mountain Golf Club Lakemont enjoys a resort-style appeal with lots of hazards and spectacular views at every turn.
