Course Overview

Orton Meadows Golf Course is an 18-hole, par 67, 5613 yard, parkland golf course designed by Dennis and Roger Fitton. Orton Meadows offers the same “countryside in the city” feel as Thorpe Wood having been developed on land to the south side of the River Nene. Orton Meadows was able to be developed into an 18-hole course from what was originally a 12-hole layout, thanks to the extraction of gravel. The course is well maintained, with seven par 3s, so whilst making it a shorter course than Thorpe Wood it still provides an excellent challenge. Long, strong dog-legged holes skirt around Orton Water to comprise a truly spectacular front 8 holes. Those golfers on top form will do well to get through these holes without losing a ball to water and score close to your handicap. Here you will find some memorable holes, with views that would not look out of place in Florida, weather aside! Once you cross the Nene Valley Railway tracks you'll reach holes 9 – 17 which is a shorter and pleasant 9-holes, where the emphasis is on short game and tactical positioning off the tee. Finally, you will cross back over the railway tracks for the 18th Hole to take you to the finish, next to The Granary Public House which acts as the 19th hole. Golfers will find Orton Meadows to be a very enjoyable course to play for a varied test and a fantastic walk.
