Course Overview
The original course of the Chicagoland's famed Cog Hill – which has played host to many high-level professional and amateur events -- the No. 1 Course, is a great warmup for any of the other three or a nice stand-alone gentle test with a blend of holes both in length and design. Originally opened in 1927 and designed by David McIntosh, the course was renovated decades later by Dick Wilson, who added new holes and rerouted part of the course to make room for the third course at Cog Hill. The par-71 No. 1 course, which measures 6,318 yards from the back tees (there are five sets), has just enough sand, water and woods to test the accomplish player but not punish the higher handicapper too much. Cog Hill has a driving range and short-game practice area and putting green to serve all four courses. There's also a golf academy for lessons. And the facility's magnificent clubhouse features a great bar and grill, as well as banquet, wedding and meeting facilities.
