Course Overview

Now open to both sexes, Wirral Golf Club was formed in 1894 by the female family members of Royal Liverpool as somewhere for them to play. It was designed by Harry Hilton, a local golfer who won The Open twice in the 1890s and is laid out on a delightful area of Wirral heathland. With excellent drainage on to sandstone, Wirral Golf Club stays in excellent condition year round and is the closest course to Liverpool city centre. At only 5,000 yards, par 70 the course at Wirral Golf Club is relatively short and this was clearly the objective from the original design. It may not be long but it is certainly challenging and will give your all round game a thorough examination. With a superb reputation for keeping the course in great condition, even through the winter, this is a high quality course with a twist. A delightful alternative to the longer courses in the area, a round here takes about 3 hours and making it the perfect course to play at any time of the year.
