Course Overview

One of two championship layouts at Wildcat Golf Club, the Lakes Course is unlike anything else in the Houston area. Among the Bayou City's most popular courses, the Lakes, which was designed by Roy Case, is a roller-coaster ride with elevation change uncommon in the area. There is also plenty of water, doglegs, a few blind shots, undulating greens, strategic bunkering, and superb conditioning. Both courses, which includes the more links-like Highlands Course, were built over an old landfill and oil field with pump jacks still on the property. The courses also provide spectacular views of NRG Stadium (home of the Houston Texans) to the north, as well as the massive Medical Center area and downtown Houston. The unofficial home to Houston's professional sports teams, Wildcat is a very popular tournament spot as well. The Lakes Course, which measures 7,016 yards, is considered the more difficult of the two layouts. As the name would imply, actual lakes come into play often on the course. On the 443-yard par-4 14th, for example, the approach plays over a lake to a green that's 40-feet below the fairway, with skyline views in the horizon. Wildcat also has excellent practice facilities that include a double-sided range, practice greens and extensive short-game area with chipping and pitching greens as well as practice bunkers. The golf shop in the large clubhouse is well-stocked with the latest in apparel, accessories and equipment. And the clubhouse restaurant, Vista Grille, is popular with non golfers as well as golfers, offering breakfast, lunch and dinner.
