Course Overview

When golfers think of White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, their minds often turn to the prestigious courses at The Greenbrier, one of America’s most iconic upscale resorts. However, if you ask the locals, Greenbrier staff, or savvy guests in the know, they’ll likely recommend Valley View Country Club. Just three miles from The Greenbrier, Valley View offers a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere and a well-designed 9-hole course with affordable tee times. Opened in 1962 and designed by Ray Vaughn, the parkland-style course meanders across a mostly flat site, providing a scenic setting without any surrounding homes. The par-36 layout features two par 3s and two par 5s, with three sets of tees offering yardages of 2,710, 3,180, and 3,446 yards. Many players are surprised by the length of the course, especially from the back tees, where you'll encounter a long 236-yard par 3 and a challenging par 5 that stretches over 600 yards. The course is both fun and player-friendly, with generous, tree-lined fairways and a nice variety of holes. Water comes into play on multiple occasions, with a pond and creek adding excitement to the round. Golfers must cross the creek four times throughout their round, keeping the challenge fresh. Despite its length, the course is walkable, with only one hill to navigate. Valley View is known for its well-maintained greens and consistently high standards of course upkeep.
