Course Overview
Located on Lake Conroe north of Houston, The Golf Club at Margaritaville Lake Resort has undergone several improvements over the years. Originally known as Del Lago, the first version of the golf course, designed by former PGA Tour player Dave Marr, opened in 1981. With new owners, it got a complete facelift in 2006 by local architect Jeff Blume and was renamed La Torretta. The changes at The Golf Club at Margaritaville included all new modern greens complexes and bunkering, new turf and improved irrigation and conditions. In 2019, Margaritaville Holdings acquired the entire 186-acre resort, which includes a high-rise hotel, tennis courts, marina, spa, meeting space and restaurants to become the first Jimmy Buffet Margaritaville Resort in Texas when it reopened in 2020 after renovations. As for the course, there's plenty to love. The ninth is a short par-5 at 489 yards from the tips, but the tee shot requires a precise left-to-right blast to put players in position to go for a semi-island green in two. The back nine features several terrific holes as well, including the signature 15th, a 460-yard par 4 with an uphill approach over a pond and brook. There are five sets of tees on The Golf Club at Margaritaville Resort, which can play as long as 6,921 yards.
