Course Overview

Owned by country music legend George Strait and businessman Tom Cusick, Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort re-emerged in 2020 with a new clubhouse and significant improvements to the golf course. Once 27 holes when it was originally designed by Bill Johnston in 1981, Tapatio Springs was contracted to 18 after being ravaged by floods in 2013. Two years later, after a redesign by renowned golf course architect Tripp Davis, the remaining 18 had a whole new look. As part of $2 million in improvements, changes included new “Billy Bunkers (which drain incredibly well),” several new greens and better conditioning. As for the course, it's not long at 6,477 yards from the last of five sets of tees, but there are many par 4s (and maybe even par 5s) where driver off the tee isn't the best option. There's plenty of elevation change and very few straight holes. Lots of wildlife, no homes and an abundance of fresh air complete the experience. After a fire destroyed the resort's clubhouse in 2017, it was replaced by a new 47,000 square foot clubhouse with western design and décor reflective of the resort's Hill Country roots. The centerpiece is La Cascada, which serves an eclectic menu of Texas dishes, fine wines and craft beers. Additionally, Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort offers outstanding practice facilities and instruction.
