Course Overview

Billed as the only Arnold Palmer designed golf course in the St. Louis area, Spencer T. Olin Community Golf Course is par-72 layout that plays almost 7,000 yards from the tips. The course, which opened in 1989 and was also designed by Palmer's chief architect, Ed Seay, is located in the Gordon F. Moore Community Park in Alton, Ill. The course has six sets of tees with zoysia fairways and bent greens. The golf complex includes a nine-hole learning course as well. The 18-hole course is a parkland layout with tree-lined fairways, strategically placed bunkers and a couple of water features that come into play. For example, the difficult par-4 14th plays 425 yards. It's a dogleg right with the approach shot mostly carry over water. Inside the clubhouse at Spencer T. Olin Golf Course is a golf shop, shower and locker facilities. In addition, the Traditions Grill offers an array of sandwiches and beverages. It's also available for group events from 16 to 288 players. Spencer T. Olin's practice facility features l a large two-tiered grass tee practice range, practice putting green, practice chipping green, and practice bunker.
