Course Overview

Silloth on Solway Golf Course was originally laid out in 1892 and still features a few holes from the original design. The course has since been redesigned by Alister MacKenzie and Willie Park Junior. The course is a beautiful blend of heathland with a links feel to it. Gorse bushes, heather and sandy waste areas lurk to claim victims of a wayward drive. The par 3 ninth is a feature hole of the course with an elevated tee. This elevation will play havoc with the golfers as the wind swirls round ready to catch any poorly struck tee shot. The hole can play anywhere from a wedge to a 3 iron so there is great variety to be found at Silloth. The course features a few quirky par 4’s that wind through the dense heather. Another signature hole on this tricky layout is the par 5 13th hole. The tee shot appears narrow but there is more room that meets the eye. The demanding second shot is played through a gully that generally plays into the prevailing wind.
