Course Overview
Mundesley Golf Club is situated just half a mile from the beautiful North Norfolk Coast, by the charming coastal village of Mundesley. Mundesley Golf Club sits on the rolling hillside of the River Mun valley and enjoys panoramic views over the surrounding countryside. Founded in 1901, Mundesley Golf Club is one of North Norfolk’s true golfing gems and has a fascinating history and was designed with the help of legendary six times Open Champion Harry Vardon. Mundesley Golf Club, with its 9 holes and 18 tees, provides golfers of all abilities with a satisfying challenge. Although the basic contours of the land remain the same on the course, the layout of the holes has seen much change since Vardon’s original design. Both World Wars required land to be given up to farming, and much redesign has followed the end of the conflict. Forward-thinking management at Mundesley Gold Club has also ensured that the changing demands of today’s game are met with further alterations in recent years. Mundesley may be relatively short by modern, 21st Century standards at 5,377 yards (4,917 metres), but it offers quite a challenge regardless, even to those playing the course regularly. Add in the wind coming off the Norfolk Coast and a quota of sand traps (which are spread liberally across the impeccably maintained fairways and greens), this seaside course will test even the best players. The course, which is free of water hazards, follows a compact path through the hillside with some superb views over the countryside down to Mundesley’s windmill and beyond, while sea views can be enjoyed from the higher holes on the course. English Golf Courses guide has called Mundesley 'An excellent challenge, irrespective of how good a player you are...' and you can be sure that Mundesley Golf Club offers all golfers a welcoming challenge that can be enjoyed along with its captivating history.
