Course Overview

New ownership - Par 70 PGA course built in 1938. The Historic Front Royal Golf Club and Recreational Center is the second-oldest golf course in the State of Virginia and Virginia’s only golf course with four holes right on the Shenandoah River. While technically a 9 hole Course, the Front Royal Golf Course will challenge any golfer with it’s 18 tee boxes, all with different slopes and designs that give the course a true 18 hole feel. Constructed based on the “County Courses” in Ireland, the Front Royal Golf Club and Recreational Center was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps under President Franklin D. Roosevelt on land donated by Mr. William E. Carson in honor of his late son, Will. It was designed by Mr. Carson, and, to this day largely reflects Mr. Carson’s original design.
