Course Overview
The S at Rancho Mirage is an 18-hole private golf course that surrounds a 25-acre lake. Designed by Desmond Muirhead, the course and has six sets of tees, ranging from 4,797 yards to 6,716 yards. Opened in 1971, the course was formerly known Desert Island Golf & Country Club and The Sinatra Resort & Country Club before 220 members bought the facility in 1981 to make it a private equity club. Over the years, the club has invested in various improvements including a clubhouse expansion, lengthening the course to to its current yardage and adding a cement bulkhead to protect both the lake and golf course. One of the most unique aspects of the 155-acre parcel is that there's an island in the center of the lake with three high-rise residential units. As for the course, The S at Rancho Mirage has Bermuda fairways and greens, water that comes into play on more than half the holes, plenty of bunkers and a nice variety of holes with doglegs that go both ways. The S at Rancho Mirage also offers comprehensive practice facilities, a golf shop, bar and grill as well as banquet rooms in the clubhouse.
