Course Overview
Family owned and operated Crystal Woods Golf Course is an 18-hole golf course that can trace its roots back to an old William Langford design. First opened in the 1950s as a nine-hole par-37 course known as Bit O' Heather, Richard Mary Ann Craig expanded the course in 1969 to 18 holes under the direction of architect Charles Wagstaff. The new layout blended new holes with old holes into the 6,403-yard par 72 course that it is today. At the time the new 18 holes opened, it was the first semi-private course in McHenry County. The layout features numerous elevation changes as well as plenty of bunkers and a couple of ponds that come into play, most notably on the par-4 12th – the course's signature hole -- and par-3 13th holes. Crystal Woods Golf Course also offers a driving range, chipping green and practice putting green. And the clubhouse is also available for banquets and special events.
