Course Overview

A fairly demanding course, Balmoral Woods Country Club is a well-conditioned 6,700-yard par 72 layout through 280 acres of wooded, rolling hills. The course, which has four sets of tees, has a 133/72.6 slope/rating with plenty of doglegs, water hazards bunkers and undulating topography. Designed by George Fazio and Don Mortell, the course opened in 1975. Often ranked among the top 10 public golf facilities in the Chicagoland area, the course has played host to many local and state events, including the Will County Amateur Championship. A good example of the course's difficulty is the no. 1 handicap hole, the par-5 seventh. The 548-yard hole is a narrow dogleg left with an approach shot over a creek in front of the green. The 430-yard par-4 18th is also a tough finishing hole, with a pond and pot bunker that come into play on the left side of the fairway. Balmoral Woods Country Club, which has a driving range among its practice facilities, is also home to the Bill Abrams Golf Academy.
