Course overview

Lewes Golf Club is situated on the chalk cliffs that overlook the town and offers not only superb golfing facilities, but also gorgeous scenery with views of the North Downs. The clubhouse provides bar and dining facilities that are available in the lounge as well as in a separate dining room. An exterior terrace overlooking the historic town of Lewes and its surroundings provides an ideal seating area to enjoy a drink. Lewes Golf Club is also home to an impressive teaching academy which includes a large driving range and a handy short game and putting area which can be used before teeing off. Set atop the South Downs, Lewes Golf Course is a superb mature downland course that offers magnificent views in all directions. Established in 1896 this 6224 yards course is enhanced by undulating fairways and greens. The course is not the longest but don’t be fooled - small greens and the slopes will challenge any golfer especially if the wind gets up. The signature hole at Lewes Golf Club is the 403 yard, par 4, 15th a classic dogleg hole presenting a tree- lined narrow drive with a sharply sloping downhill entrance to the green which is protected by one of the deepest bunkers on the course. With an underlying chalk base the course has excellent drainage allowing play on main greens and tees throughout the year. The course is also renowned for having some of the very best greens in the region.
