Course overview
Situated in the tranquil village of Thornhill in Mid Nithsdale, golf has been played at this club for over 100 years. The club was initially home to a 9-hole course, but was extended to the 18-hole layout that you play today, in 1979. The club has seen great success from some of its members on the professional circuit, most notably Andrew Coltart, who claimed two victories on the European Tour during his professional career. Thornhill Golf Course measures a modest 6,102 yards and provides a delightful mix of both parkland and heathland characteristics throughout. Unusually the course breaks you in with the stroke index 18 hole first, a short par 3 with two bunkers guarding the green. However, it still requires a well-struck iron to find the small green with the first shot of the day!
